Perth Strathearn Player Profiles

Ivor Patterson - First Team Captain 2011

'The Berwick Express' arrived in Perth a few years ago now, and has spent most of that time bamboozling batsmen across the Union with his late in-swing. A regular wicket taker, Ivor also skippered the team to their first ever promotion to the Premier Division in 2009. Quickly developing a reputation as the next Jonathon Ross after hosting the recent quiz and race nights.

Suvaaankoor Das

Sanu has travelled from Bhubaneswar in India to play with us during the 2011 season. It was 41 degress when he left home, so he is looking forward to experiencing cricket in a different climate in Scotland. Sanu is a top order bat and bowls right arm off spin, and will be hoping to make some major contributions over the season. The club is delighted to have him here and wish him all the best for the season.

Paul Tramontanas

'Stav' has been with the club for about 5 years. An agressive number 3 bat, he made a ton on debut for the two's, before top edging one straight into his face. As you can see, no harm done. In his first season as skipper in 2010 he led the team into an SNCL play off, just failing to claim a spot in the national championship division.

Matt Piper

Matt has just joined the club in 2011 after playing with Fort William in the NoSCA last season. Originally from Hertfordshire Matt is looking forward to playing on some fast bouncy wickets, after descedning from the highlands. He may have a long wait ! Matt bat's, bowls, can drink, and now he tells us he can keep wicket too, is there anything this man can't do?

Richard Kirkman

'Richie' or 'Chucky' rose through the junior ranks and is now a vaulable member of the first XI contributing with both bat and ball. His appearances over the past couple of seasons have been curtailed, by his commitments at Abertay University.....we are not sure what his role there is, but we figure he must have a job in the student bar!

Callum Laing

Callum graduated form the juniors a couple of seasons back and has been a regular in the first and second teams ever since. A slow left arm bowler, he has taken important wickets in both senior teams and has played some important innings, when they are needed most after one of the infamous Strathy collapses.

Robert Thomson

Robert is another product of the Glendelvine youth policy, and is a promising young batsmen. He'll be looking to challenge for a regular spot in the batting line up, as long as he doesn't pick up any more rugby injuries!

David Patton

David has been with the club for many years after the demise of his former club Luncarty. A cultured left had bat and handy with the gloves behind the stumps. His day job in the local constabulary prevents him making as many appearances as he would like, but on the positive side it can prove handy for a lift home after a team night out !!

Brock Ditchman

Brock has signed up as club Pro for the second half of the 2011 season. Experienced in the local conditions with his time at Rossie Priory, he has proven himself with both bat and ball in the Premier Division. Another Aussie in the team might help drown out the noise of Stav at first slip, but its more liklely decibel levels will reach new heights.

Brock is the equivalent of an ECB Level 3 coach and will be an excellent asset in his work with the local juniors.

Gordon McKinnie

Club 'veteran' Gordy, or the 'Silver Fox' as he is known in some late night establishments, has been playing cricket at Doo’cot Park for longer than anyone else in the club can remember. Still opening the batting on a regular basis, and spending 45 overs rooted to the spot at gully, probably his favourite area of any cricket ground.

Jonathan Hill

Hilly is Mr Strathearn. Club Treasurer, junior coach, former captain, and tea lady, as well as regular run scorer and wicket taker. With over 10,000 club runs to his name, his batting prowess is often under estimated. However his opening spells with the ball, are what he is really known for and just like his financial management, they tend to be tight and economical.

Fraser Mearns

Just like the Chappells there are also 3 cricketing Mearns Brothers, with Fraser being the youngest. The comparisons probably end there, but Fraser is a promising opening batsmen and should be looking to force the likes of Gordy into retirement over the next couple of seasons by making the role his own.

Paddy Murray

Now based in Dundee, Paddy originates from near Lisburn in Northern Ireland, and likes to shoot! (good skills to have in both those locations come to think of it...) Fortunately he is after duck and pheasant mainly. He is also in his debut season in 2011 with the club. Handy with bat & ball, Paddy has already shown that he's a great addition to the playing pool.

Ross Tait

Ross played with PSCC at U-13 and U-15 level, but more recently has played senior cricket with his home club Glendelvine CC.  Now standing at 6'8", (6'10" in his heels!) when Ross gets the ball in the right areas, he will be  a handful for most batsmen

Craig Oswald

Ossi is another long serving club member having come through the clubs' junior section. A leading wicket taker over the last few seasons, he has played a big role in helping get the club where it is today. A lower order right hand bat Ossi can also add quick runs when they are needed, as he can play most shots in the book, as well as some that aren't.

Graeme Haddow

Haddy is in his first season with Perth Strathearn, after previously playing with Perthshire. Lured by the challenge of Premier Division cricket he has settled in to the team well scored 74 on his first XI league debut at the start of the season.

John McKenzie

John has been an Almond Valley CC stalwart for years, and still has affiliations with the club. The chance to play Saturday cricket in the Premier Divison was something he saw as an added incentive to playing with PSCC. As a wicketkeepr and right hand bat he is a welcome addition to the first team squad.
