The Glendelvine Partnership

Anyone familiar with cricket in these parts should have noticed the emerging talent coming out of Glendelvine. Third division champions in 2009 with seven players aged under 19, a creditable third in Division 2 with the younger players all featuring in key batting and bowling positions - undoubtedly the future for many of these young players has to be onwards and upwards. Our relationship with Glendelvine has always been a positive one particularly through junior cricket and we are delighted to announce a formal alliance between the two clubs.

As Steve Tait, the Glendelvine captain says ''our current focus is on sunday and midweek cricket but we recognise that a number of our talented young players are ready to step up and play at a higher level on saturdays. Our partnership with Perth Strathearn provides them with this platform while allowing them to continue to play for their local club on a sunday. The best of both worlds really.'

Andy Garnett PSCC secretary adds " the alliance with Glendelvine has numerous benefits, the playing squad here is strengthened with several emerging juniors adding depth to our squad, which in turn provides them with added experience when playing back at Glendelvine. It also presents our current players and youth players with competition for places, which has to be good for our ambitions within the structure of Scottish Cricket. Perhaps as valuable an addition, is the input from Mark Bridgeman in particular, with his coaching experience. Juniors at both clubs will benefit from this in the future, and indeed have already done so during the close season, with coaches form both clubs working together on indoor training.

First Team End of Term Report

2010 - The Final Word

As the First XI team Captain, I would like to thank all that have played in the First XI this season. I think I speak for everyone in saying that we far exceeded our own and others expectations of us this year. Finishing in second place in a closely contested competition, after being promoted into the premier league for the first time was a fine effort.

The season got off to a great start winning the first 7 games straight. We then struggled a bit through lack of availability, injury and suspensions, but a fine win against the competition leaders in the final game of the season cemented our position, and allowed us to contest the playoffs for a shot at the National League.

Unfortunately this proved a step too far for our developing young squad, but I feel the experience will serve the club well in our attempts here on.

Special commendation to our overseas amateur Hamish Bloomfield, whose commitment and ability contributed largely to our success. Stats of 32 wickets and 259 runs speak for themselves. Well done to the older brigade Gordy, Hilly, Ivor and Davie P. Your support was well appreciated and your performances are to be commended. Davie P’s 100 against Dundee High was certainly a highlight. To the younger fraternity Asif, Richie, Fraser, Marcus, Simon and Callum; your commitment is unquestioned and potentially you are as talented as any in the competition... Confidence, belief and some bloody hard work is what you guys need to develop into the cricketers I know you can be. It has been a meteoric rise to the top of the division for the club, but with this experience under your belts I have high hopes for you all in the coming years. Well done Callum on the only ‘Five For’ for the season.

To those ‘In Betweens’ Haddy, Johny Mc, Ozi, Toni D, Marshy and Greg I appreciate your efforts and applaud your support. You have all had your moments’, let’s just hope you have many more in the ‘Manzil’ shirt

I look forward to you all buying me a ‘Guinea Fowl’ at the presentation in Mid October and telling me how my captaincy was rubbish and why I should be sacked!

Onwards and Upwards
